Dear Friends and family,
As we begin a new year we hope and pray it will be a good one for all of you. This past year has been full of sadness and grief because many of our loved ones have passed on. It is so hard to lose a loved one! We just hate to let go of those who mean so much to us; however, it is something we all know will eventually occur. Ever since our first parents, Adam and Eve, sinned, death has passed on to us as a terrible disease.
But just think, one day there will be no more dying and we will live forever! We humans cannot understand this because we have never experienced it. It seems almost too good to be true! But I believe it will happen because God has promised in His Word if we love and believe in Him, keep His commandments, put away from our sins, and accept Jesus His son -He will save us!
Sermon this month: WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN?
THE THREE TON MIRACLE
I gazed out over the field, dotted with gray-green bales of fragrant alfalfa. Dad had cut the hay two days ago after work. Ed, my 13 –year-old brother, had raked it into fat windrows the next afternoon. With the baler’s work finished, I now drove the tractor in low gear, as Mother and Ed loaded the bales onto the long homemade sled.
Ten years before, when I was just a baby, Dad had built this “stoneboat” to haul rocks out of the fields. He had joined two 20-foot poles with two-foot x 6-foot boards secured with spikes. Chains, 1wwthreaded through holes in the large end of the logs, formed two loops. A thicker chain, always hanging from the tractor’s drawbar, was hooked into these.
Now old and weathered, its crosspieces crumbling with rot, the stoneboat still made a great hay sled. It sure was a lot lower and easier than a tall hay wagon for Mother and Ed to heave the heavy bales into. Of course, since it didn’t have wheels, it was more cumbersome to pull than a wagon would have been. The sun beat down mercilessly as I guided the tractor between the rows. Rivulets of salty sweat trickled down to the corners of my mouth. I turned to check on the progress of the loaders. Bare to the waist, his suntanned back gleaming with perspiration. Ed seemed to be enjoying the work. My slender mother, as tan as we children, worked steadily in the stifling heat.
Approaching the end of the field, I had to make a wide turn to accommodate the long sled. The long rows of bales stretched ahead of me. The monotonous vibration of the tractor, combined with the shimmering heat, was almost lulling me to sleep.
Ed’s voice shouting for me to stop jerked me back to my surroundings. I pushed in the clutch to halt the tractor and turned in my seat. Where were Ed and Mother? I couldn’t see them.
“Alice, shut off the tractor,” I heard Ed shout.
Quickly I turned the key, killing the engine. As I jumped to the ground, my body still tingled from the vibrations of the tractor.
Ed was kneeling on the ground. But where was Mother? It was as if she had vanished into thin air.
I thought I heard Ed say, “Shall I go for help?”
I ran across the uneven ground where he knelt.
Oh, No! What I saw was so horrifying that I had never even imagined it. In an instant I saw that one of the rotting boards on the bed of the sled had broken when Mother had stepped up to fork a bale into place.
Her leg had gone through the small hole and had dragged under the sled, pulling the rest of her body onto the sled, her shoulder wedged tight against the big bales and her leg pinned beneath the sled. I started to cry.
Quietly Mother said, “Hush, Alice. Please don’t fall apart now. I need you.”
Ed repeated the question, “Should I go for help, Mother?”
“No,” she answered. “All the men are in the fields. You children must help me. Jesus will give you the strength you need.”
How could Mother be so calm? She told us to bow our heads while she asked Jesus to help us if it was his will. After her simple prayer, we all said amen together.
“Now, children, said mother, “I want both of you to take a good firm hold of those poles, right out at the end. I’ll count to three. When I say lift, lift the sled up so I can pull my leg out.”
“Mother,” cried Ed, “There are almost three tons of hay on this sled! We can’t possibly lift it.”
Mother’s voice was firm. “If Jesus wants us to get this hay in the barn before tonight’s rain, He will help you. If it is not His will, you will start unloading the hay. Let’s let Him choose. Now get your hands around those poles!”
Mother counted, “One, two, three, lift!”
We lifted! And that load of hay went right up in the air! Mother pulled her leg up from under the sled. We lowered the stoneboat to the ground.
Ed and I looked at each other in amazement! How had we done that?
I could tell that Ed felt as shaky as I did. “The sled just jumped up in the air,” he said in a quavery voice. Still unable to speak, I nodded my head in agreement.
Although it was skinned raw from ankle to hip, mother’s leg was not broken. We thanked Jesus for sending His angels to protect Mother from serious injury by helping two scared little kids lift three tons of hay.
DECODING THE BOOK OF
DANIEL AND REVELATION (con’t)
REVELATION CHAPTER FOURTEEN
“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the first fruits unto God and to the Lamb.” Revelation 14:1-4
Note: A woman in prophecy is a church and we can be defiled by believing false doctrine of an un-pure church. The defilement is spiritual.
“And in their mouth was found no guile (deceit) for they are without fault before the throne of God. And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Rev. 14:5-7
Note: This is a call to worship the true God the creator of heaven and earth, not Babylon.
His JUDGMENT IS COME. (present tense) We are now being judged and the judgment will be finished before Jesus comes. How else would God know where to send or take us when He comes?
“And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Revelation 14:8
Note: Modern Babylon is Rome and her daughters. Her wine is her false doctrines. Recently the Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopalian and some
Pentecostal churches have apologized for Martin Luther and the reformation and made peace with the Roman Church. These churches are some of her daughters. The pope says the reformation is over.
“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” Revelation 14:9-15
Note: the harvest is God’s faithful.
“And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.” Revelation 14:16-19
Note: the grapes are the unfaithful. Wine (false doctrine) comes from grapes.
“And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.” Revelation 14:20
Note: The message in this chapter needs to be spread far and wide to warn the people of the world not to accept the mark of the beast. The Bible makes it clear what the mark is and Rome brags about what her mark is.
“Sunday is our mark or authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.” (Catholic Record of London Ontario, September 1, 1923.)
THE SABBATH QUESTION
WHAT IS THE SABBATH?
The Sabbath is the special “Day of Rest” which God gave man in the very beginning when He created the world. Man had nothing to do with the creation of the Sabbath Day and has no right or authority to change the day to any other day.
Genesis 2:1-3 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”
The Sabbath is the Memorial of God’s Creation.
IS THE SABBATH TO BE OBSERVED IN OUR DAY?
(Exodus 20:8-10 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:”)
This is the only commandment that God says, REMEMBER and it is the one that most people have FORGOTTEN!
Leviticus 23:3 “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings”
God never changes and His Law and His Word will remain forever.
Psalms 89:34 “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.”
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
Isaiah 42:21 “The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.”
Jesus himself, said the following:
Matthew 5:18,19 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. “
Yes, God’s law still stands today as it always has and He expects us to keep it in its entirety. Although the fourth commandment is not being observed by most people today, it still stands with the other nine commandments and is still in force today.
WHY DO WE KEEP THE SABBATH DAY?
Exodus 20:11 “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
(This is the Fourth of God’s Ten Commandments)
John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1 John 2:4 “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” If we truly love God, we will delight to keep all His commandments. We will try to please Him in all we do. We will have a great love for others and try to do all we can to win them to Christ and eternal life.
WHEN DO WE KEEP THE SABBATH?
Exodus 20:10 “But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: ……..”
(Look on your calendar to see which is the 7th day).
Genesis 1:5 “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
God says the evening is the first part of the day; it is followed by the morning and ends at evening when a new day begins.
Of course this was changed by man “from midnight to midnight”. Pagan Rome changed the way we keep time. Roman Civil Society defined the day as beginning at midnight. The day was divided into ante meridiem (am) and post meridiem (pm). (see Roman Time Keeping for more information including the calendar. The Romans borrowed their system from the Greeks, who in turn had learned it from the Babylonians. (History Beta)
Leviticus 23:32 “It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.”
Luke 23:52-56; Luke 24:1,2 “This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on. And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.”
Luke 24:1-3 “Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.”
Jesus died on Friday. Friday is the “Preparation Day” All our work should be done before Friday evening because the Sabbath begins on Friday evening. The women saw where Christ was laid and went home because the Sabbath was drawing on. They did not want to desecrate the Sabbath by working on the things they needed to do to Jesus’ body. They planned to come back to the tomb after the Sabbath had ended. They could not work the first part of Sunday because it was dark. So when it got daylight they returned to the tomb to dress our Lord’s body. Of course He was not in the tomb because he had arisen!
WHERE DO WE KEEP SABBATH?
We can keep the Sabbath wherever we are. If we have a church that keeps the Sabbath and all the Bible truths we can go there on Sabbath. If none is near, then we can keep the Sabbath in our own home. We can invite others to join with us and we can have a home church.
In Bible days groups met out in the outdoors under the trees or by the streams of water. Jesus did most of teaching out in nature.
Did you know that God’s true and faithful people are His church no matter where they worship Him?
Did you know that in the Earth Made New we will keep the Sabbath?
Isaiah 66:22-23 “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.”
HOW SHOULD WE KEEP THE SABBATH?
Isaiah 58 tells us that we should be repairers of the breach. A breach was made in the ten commandment wall by the changing of the seventh-day Sabbath to the first day Pagan sun-day of worship.
How can we be repairers of the breach when we ourselves are not keeping the Sabbath properly?
Isaiah 58:13 says "We are not to be speaking our own words.”
Words come from thoughts. What should we be thinking about on the Sabbath? Our minds should be directed toward worship. We certainly should not let our minds be directed to every common worldly subject.
The Sabbath is to be spent in reverence to God. We can sing, study our Bibles; we can visit the sick; we can take walks in nature; we can listen to Christian music but we should not let our minds run freely on worldly subjects.
I am just as guilty as anyone but I have come to the realization; if the breach is going to be repaired we need to be more serious about our Sabbath worship.
If we cannot keep the Sabbath properly now, how will we stand up to the mark of the beast? Keeping the Sabbath is more than just going to church on Saturday.
We are not to bake or cook on the Sabbath; that should be done on Friday the preparation day. We should take our baths, shine our shoes etc. and make all preparation in advance of the Sabbath.
“Remember” is placed at the very first of the Fourth Commandment. Parents, you need to remember the Sabbath day yourselves to keep it holy. And if you do this, you are giving the proper instruction to your children; they will reverence God’s holy day.... Christian education is needed in your homes. All through the week keep the Lord’s holy Sabbath in view, for that day is to be devoted to the service of God. It is a day when the hands are to rest from worldly employment, when the soul’s needs are to receive special attention.” { CG 527.3}
“When the Sabbath is thus remembered, the temporal will not be allowed to encroach upon the spiritual. No duty pertaining to the six working days will be left for the Sabbath. During the week our energies will not be so exhausted in temporal labor that on the day when the Lord rested and was refreshed, we shall be too weary to engage in His service.” { CG 528.1}
“On Friday let the preparation for the Sabbath be completed. See that all the clothing is in readiness, and that all the cooking is done. Let the boots be blacked, and the baths be taken. It is possible to do this. If you make it a rule, you can do it. The Sabbath is not to be given to the repairing of garments, to the cooking of food, to pleasure seeking, or to any other worldly employment. Before the setting of the sun, let all secular work be laid aside, and all secular papers be put out of sight.” { CG 528.2}
Bill Gates and the World’s Elite DO NOT VACCINATE their own children… and for good reason -----(Natural News Jan 2019 by: S.D. Wells)
The absolute worst medical decision a parent of a newborn child can make is to allow doctors and nurses to severely compromise the immune system of their infant by injecting him or her with known neurotoxins, foreign proteins, and carcinogens like mercury, formaldehyde, monkey kidney cells, pig viruses, and genetically modified cells from human abortions. That’s why billionaire Bill Gates, the infamous and insidious population control freak and Microsoft mogul, refused to vaccinate his own children when they were growing up, even while he promotes toxic jabs all over the world, especially in third world countries.
It’s true. Gates’ former private doctor from Seattle back in the 1990s said, “I don’t know if he had them vaccinated as adults, but I can tell you he point blank refused to vaccinate them as children.” We know this because the quote was taken from Gates’ doctor during a side note conversation at a medical symposium, which caused a small uproar among the attending physicians, who blasphemed Gates’ doctor for breaking rank with doctor-patient confidentiality (even though it’s a “gray area” because he was speaking to other doctors privately). Still, it was too late – the cat got out of the bag, and now the world knows the ultimate hypocrisy of the elite who radically and religiously push vaccines as the “holy grail” of medicine, all while they keep the same poisons out of their own children’s blood and muscle tissue, knowing good and well the high risk of side effects and adverse events far outweighs any possible benefits……………….. More on this subject later.
FROM KATIE’S COOKBOOKS
VEGAN SHEPHERDLESS PIE
3 large russet or Yukon gold potatoes
8 Tbsp dairy-free butter (Earth Balance)*
¼ cup unsweetened plain almond milk
1 yellow onion, chopped
3 large carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 ½ cups seasonal vegetables (I used Brussel sprouts, quartered)
Leaves from 4 sprigs fresh thyme
Leaves from 1 sprig fresh rosemary
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz. Crimini mushrooms, sliced or quartered
1 cup frozen peas, thawed
Sea salt to taste
1 tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ cups cooked black or green lentils
½ cup vegetable broth
Preheat oven to 425o. Peel and quarter potatoes. Boil in salted water until very tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot. Add half of the butter and mash the potatoes. Add the milk to thin until you have a nice mashed potato consistency. Season to taste with salt.
While the potatoes are cooking, heat the other half of the butter in a large skillet. Sauté the onion, carrots, celery and any other hard vegetables, and herbs over medium heat until almost tender, about 8 minutes. Add the garlic, mushrooms, and peas and sauté until all the vegetables are tender, about 3 minutes longer. Season to taste with salt. Add the Worcestershire sauce and vegetable broth, and cook uncovered over low heat for 2 minutes. Stir in the lentils. Transfer the vegetable lentil mixture to an 8x8 square baking dish or smaller individual casserole dishes. Spread the mashed potatoes on top. Bake for about 20 minutes, until bubbling and the potatoes are golden brown on top.
Notes: You can reduce the butter by sautéing the vegetables in vegetable broth if desired. My daughter made this the other day and she said it was delicious!
Until next time,
Remember God loves you and so do we!

WHEN WILL WE LEARN?
In the first chapter of Isaiah God said, “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats” Isaiah 1: 11
The people of Israel had come to the place where they thought they could sin and bring a lamb or a goat and get forgiveness but God has always required that we be sorry for our sins and come to repentance. Sacrifice for sins had become a ritual and it is the same today.
In the Roman Catholic Church you can go to the confessional booth and confess your sins, the priest will forgive you; and the next week and every week thereafter; and God is suppose to honor the priest’s decision?
It is no different in any church denomination today. We commit the same sins over and over and expect God to forgive us over and over.
If we expect God to continue to forgive us in this manner we do not understand the plan of salvation!
The Bible says, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” Revelation 2: 7
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5: 4
“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” Revelation 21: 7
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” Revelation 3: 21
“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Revelation 3: 5
“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:” Revelation 2: 26
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.” Revelation 2: 11
We are expected to overcome our bad habits and pet sins. When we are born of God we are justified and made as pure as new born babies. We are “baby Christians” and are expected to grow to maturity as babies do.
To be eventually saved and accepted into God’s kingdom we must become mature Christians; mature enough to share our faith and grow God’s church.
How can we be a benefit to God and the work of spreading God’s saving truth if we are still dabbling in the world and sin?
“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5: 3, 4
“Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2: 15, 16
Today it is nearly impossible to distinguish Christians from people of the world. They go to the same amusements, dress alike, enjoy the same music etc.
“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:” Exodus 19: 5
“And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;” Deuteronomy 26: 18
“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.” Deuteronomy 14: 2
Christians are expected to be different from people of the world.
“For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.” 1 Corinthians 4: 9
We are being watched and each of us is a witness for good or evil.
If we are in the habit of falling on our knees daily and praying for strength to overcome our sins and to be a light in this dark world God will give us the power to overcome and also give us grace to be powerful witnesses for Him in his work of saving souls.
If we have no desire to do this we certainly are in a very compromised condition. All true followers of Jesus have a desire to represent Him.
There are many ways to work for the Lord. We have different talents and aptitudes and we are to grow them. We cannot all preach or teach but anyone can pass out literature. Some are talented in music others in other fields but whatever talent we have should be used for Him.
There will be no idlers or bench warmers in heaven. We all have a work to do if we expect to gain salvation. This work cannot be forced it must be done willingly because of our love and appreciation for what Christ has done for us.
To overcome sin is not an easy road. There will be many obstacles in the way. Satan does not give us up easily. He will be and is on our track continually.
Anyone who makes the decision to get closer to God will certainly be attacked by the enemy, but if we make it our habit to be continually connected to God by prayer and working for souls our angels will be by our sides to protect us.
“But none are left to struggle alone. Angels protect those who walk humbly before God. As His children draw near to Him for protection from evil, in love He lifts up for them a standard against the enemy. Touch them not, He says, for they are Mine. { SS 294.1 }
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5: 48
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” Philippians 3: 15
The perfection God wants from us is to, by His grace, live up to all the truth we know.
Dear Reader: If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Saviour there is no better time than now to yield your life to Him and start witnessing and working for the salvation of others around you. God will give you the strength, the will, and the words to speak in order to do the work He has planned for you to do.
